Yet more perils: Plein Air
Mad impulse to paint outdoors on this fine sunny day. Mad because it meant walking two miles to the view I had in mind with a polythene bag of paints, brushes, quick dry alkyd medium, palette and kitchen paper in one hand and a small canvas in the other with a batty wind coming in from all directions.
Belvedere and High Rises across the Buttes Chaumont
It did not proceed very smoothly what with the wind, wet grass and steep slope in the shade, and I lost the plot with the paint and ended up fleeing the scene like a criminal getaway.
But there’s something oddly satisfying about battling the odds even if the result isn’t according to plan.
