Accidental discoveries

accidentally discovering a perfect new transfer medium

Transfer mediums never seem to work as easily and effortlessly as I want. Especially when trying to capture detail.
Imagine therefore my surprise yesterday when I went to retrieve the “skin” of a large tin of oil primer after putting it aside on a sheet of newspaper whilst I plundered the free-flowing gloop in the tin.

Flipping it back over to slide back onto the contents of the tin, I saw an amazing impeccable reproduction mirror image of the newspaper surface. The most perfect transfer I’ve ever made.

All I have to do now is figure out how and why. I think last time I used the primer, I may have tipped turps on to the surface of the “skin” to try and keep the air out.

Quite the highlight of the day.
